Facebook reach is down. Here's why, and what's next

THE FACEBOOK MARKET RIGHT NOW
A quick read on what's happening this October, and what it means for you.

Since October started, a lot of publishers have watched their Facebook reach drop hard. In our private publisher community, people are reporting drops of around 45%, including pages doing anywhere from 5 million to 500 million views a day. One Meta Verified publisher saw the same drop across all three of their pages.

At the same time, a lot of others are having record quarters.

So what's going on? There's no single cause. Three things are hitting at once, and each one makes the others worse.

1. A new quarter
October is the start of Q4. Advertiser budgets reset, the ad auction wobbles, and delivery softens for a few weeks before it firms up again. It happens at the start and end of almost every quarter. This is the most predictable part of what you're seeing, and it usually picks up in the coming weeks.

2. The economy
Gas prices, affordability and cautious households all affect the ad auction. When advertisers bid less, payouts soften. When people are stressed, they scroll differently. You can see lower engagement and lower payouts at the same time without any one page doing anything wrong.

3. Meta One and a wave of product changes
Meta One is rolling out unevenly. Some pages have it and some don't, and some free and Essential pages are now capped at two organic link posts a month. On top of that, Meta is testing a Reels-first Facebook, an AI assistant inside Ads Manager, and Muse. The feed you tuned last quarter isn't the same feed this quarter.

4. Why some pages are still having record quarters
The pages holding up have something in common: they're run like businesses. They have clear systems for content, monetization and compliance. They have a team that runs those systems every day, and they send traffic to their own websites instead of living only on Facebook. When the feed shifts, they adjust one piece instead of starting over.

What this means
This is the biggest Facebook opportunity we've seen in years, but you have to do it right. When the market resets like this, the publishers with real structure pick up the share everyone else leaves behind. A lot of the little guys running pages on instinct are going to get weeded out.

Facebook Elite Consulting
This is what our Facebook Elite Consulting is built for. It's about building structure: a scalable infrastructure your own team runs in-house at the highest margins and revenue levels possible. You keep 100% of the revenue.

We give your team the same operating system we run on our own network: the strategies, SOPs, AI automation workflows, org charts and asset architecture. Then we train your team to run it, with real-time support from our department leads while you build.

It's the best fit if you have a larger brand or specific branding, and you want to:

  • Drive as much traffic as possible to your own websites at the highest RPMs
  • Diversify your income on Facebook and beyond
  • Build infrastructure your team can scale without us
  • Grow into a media enterprise that can expand into Google Discover, AI search and other platforms

We've done this for publishers of all sizes, with more than 300 million followers under management.
