Facebook is quietly reopening a door it slammed shut: publisher monetization through Meta AI chat
Publishers are reporting that Facebook is letting them restore monetization and recommendation eligibility through Meta AI chat, a channel most operators wrote off as a consumer toy with no revenue implications.

This matters more than it looks. For the past year, Meta has been tightening the screws on who qualifies for monetization and who gets surfaced through recommendations. Pages that lost eligibility had essentially two paths: appeal through the Professional Dashboard and wait, or start over. Now a third path is emerging. Publishers are going into Meta AI chat, asking about their monetization status, and coming out the other side with both monetization and recommendations switched back on. That is not a customer service interaction. That is Meta building its AI layer into the operational backbone of the platform.
The strategic read here requires context. Meta paid content creators nearly three billion dollars in 2025, a 35 percent jump from the year before. The Content Monetization Program is merging old payout streams into a single performance-based system, and Meta is sending invitations to millions of creators with open enrollment on the horizon. At the same time, Meta AI usage has exploded, with over a billion monthly users across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Meta is now using those AI conversations to personalize ads and content recommendations. The chat layer is not a sideshow. It is becoming the routing system for how the platform decides what gets seen and what gets paid.
Why would Meta do this through a chatbot instead of the existing dashboard? Two reasons worth considering:
1. It trains the AI on real publisher problems, feeding Meta a dataset of monetization edge cases that no internal QA team could replicate at scale.
2. It reduces support overhead. Every appeal resolved by the AI is one fewer ticket a human reviewer has to touch, and Meta has been under fire for offering zero human support to demonetized publishers with millions of followers.
For publishers, the practical move is obvious: if you have pages sitting in monetization limbo, open Meta AI chat and ask. The worst outcome is a no. The best outcome is revenue turned back on through a channel most of your competitors have not tried yet.
The bigger signal here is directional. Meta is wiring its AI into every decision layer, from ad targeting to content recommendations to creator payouts. Publishers who treat Meta AI as a search bar are missing the point. It is becoming the operating system for the entire platform, and the publishers who learn to work inside it early are going to have an edge that compounds.

| P.S. The Control Room is what we are building with a founding group of ten publishers over six weeks. It is not another agent you subscribe to. It is the architecture you own, on your own computer, built around your business. AI employees that draft your articles, newsletters, graphics, and copy in your voice. Reports that read your numbers and tell you where to put your energy every day. Every draft waits in a review folder for your approval before anything posts. One dashboard with your business name on it, and your hours back. -- PIB
