In today’s issue: why violations are up on every platform before the US midterms and what it means for your Facebook page monetization, five stories worth your time, and the Facebook pages with the biggest week-over-week gains.

  INSIDER ANALYSIS

Violations are up. It’s midterm season.

Enforcement systems on every platform get more sensitive before a US election. The midterms are five weeks out, and the rebound comes after.

Publishers are reporting far more violations than usual right now, and the enforcement systems are running more sensitive than usual. This happens every time in the run-up to a US election, and the midterms land on November 3, five weeks from today.

It applies to every platform. You see it on Facebook first because things move faster there than anywhere else. Nobody wants an election scandal, so every platform tightens up at the same time. Meta runs an Election Operations Center and pauses new political and social issue ads in the final week of the campaign. Google’s midterm plan, published September 9, lays out YouTube enforcement from feature restrictions up to account termination, and both Meta and YouTube ask creators to label realistic AI content. TikTok doesn’t take political ads at all.

Stricter systems catch more borderline posts, and some good pages get flagged along the way. Those get sorted out as things settle. While a violation is pending, though, it still weighs on reach and payouts.

What happened after the last election. Enforcement eased right after. In January 2025 Meta relaxed its content rules and started recommending more political content again. Across the pages we manage, Facebook went on a massive upswing for more than a year, and creator payouts reached $3 billion in 2025, up 35% on 2024, according to figures reported by Interesting Engineering. We expect the same pattern once the midterms clear.

Macro matters as much as micro. Most publishers watch the micro side: formats, posting times, what’s working in their niche. The macro side, the economy, moves your payouts too. Brent crude traded above $107 a barrel on Monday after President Trump rejected Iran’s proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. It sat near $72 the day the conflict started in February. When energy costs climb, advertisers pull back spend, and in our experience payouts on every platform soften with it. Once oil prices come back down after the Iran conflict, we expect another major lift.

What we’d do between now and November 3:

1. Keep US politics off non-US pages. If your page is based outside the US, never post US political content. It’s the fastest way to lose Content Monetization. US-based pages should expect election posts to draw extra scrutiny through November.

2. Label your AI content. Disclose realistic AI images and video. Meta and YouTube both require it, and an unlabeled AI post hands a reviewer an easy flag.

3. Appeal what looks wrong. Screenshot each notice, appeal the ones you believe are mistakes, and keep a record.

4. Tighten originality. Unoriginal content has been the most common flag this year. Credit your sources, add your own angle, and skip anything reposted as-is.

5. Diversify your income streams. A page earning from one platform takes the full hit of an enforcement wave. Google Discover and your own site keep revenue coming in while things settle.

If you’d rather hand the day-to-day to a team through midterm season, our Facebook Turnkey Management program runs your page for you, compliance included. It’s a 50/50 revenue share with no setup fee or retainer, and it’s open to pages with Content Monetization active and more than 500,000 followers.

It’ll be a sensitive few weeks until the midterms clear. Stay in full compliance and be extra careful through November. The growth comes after.
